VIC Hua Hin เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของพื้นที่การเรียนรู้ที่ก่อตั้งโดย ครูเล็ก ภัทราวดี มีชูธน ศิลปินแห่งชาติ ผู้มุ่งมั่นในการสร้างพื้นที่สำหรับการเรียนรู้ด้านศิลปะ การแสดง และความคิดสร้างสรรค์ให้กับคนรุ่นใหม่

นอกจากจะเป็นพื้นที่สำหรับการเรียนการสอนของโรงเรียนภัทราวดีแล้ว โรงละครแห่งนี้ยังถูกใช้เป็นสถานที่ถ่ายทำผลงานด้านศิลปะและภาพยนตร์ของครูเล็กมาโดยตลอด

ในอดีต โรงละครแห่งนี้เคยเปิดการแสดงเชิงพาณิชย์อย่างต่อเนื่อง ก่อนจะหยุดใช้งานไปช่วงหนึ่ง และกำลังจะกลับมาเปิดการแสดงอีกครั้ง พร้อมโปรดักชันใหม่ ทั้งละครเวทีแบบไทยดั้งเดิมและการแสดงมัลติมีเดียที่ผสมผสานเทคโนโลยี LED และ Projection Mapping

การกลับมาครั้งนี้จึงไม่ใช่เพียงการปรับปรุงอาคาร แต่ยังรวมถึงการยกระดับระบบเสียงให้สามารถรองรับมาตรฐานการแสดงในปัจจุบันได้อย่างเต็มรูปแบบ

เดิมที ระบบเสียงในโรงละครแห่งนี้ผ่านการใช้งานมาเป็นเวลายาวนาน หลายอุปกรณ์อยู่ในสภาพที่ไม่สมบูรณ์ ส่งผลให้การกระจายเสียงไม่สม่ำเสมอ และไม่สามารถถ่ายทอดรายละเอียดของการแสดงได้อย่างที่ควร

ครูเล็กจึงได้เชิญ Patrick วิศวกรเสียงและที่ปรึกษาโครงการจากประเทศโปแลนด์ ให้เข้ามาช่วยวางแนวทางการปรับปรุงระบบเสียงของโรงละครแห่งนี้

ซึ่งสำหรับ Patrick แล้ว สิ่งสำคัญที่สุดของโรงละครไม่ใช่ระดับความดังของเสียง แต่คือความชัดเจนของเสียงพูด เพราะผู้ชมต้องได้ยินและเข้าใจทุกคำพูดบนเวทีอย่างชัดเจน

ด้วยเหตุนี้ Sonos Libra จึงตั้งเป้าหมายในการออกแบบระบบเสียงให้สามารถกระจายเสียงได้อย่างสม่ำเสมอทั่วทั้งพื้นที่ พร้อมลดความแตกต่างของระดับเสียงระหว่างผู้ชมแต่ละตำแหน่ง

โจทย์สำคัญของครูเล็กคือ อยากได้ลำโพงที่ให้เสียงคมชัด โดยไม่รบกวนความสวยงามของเวที ดังนั้นลำโพง Point Source จึงเป็นตัวเลือกที่เหมาะสมกว่า Line Array โดยเฉพาะลำโพง Point Source CS Series จาก Adamson ซึ่งมีการพัฒนาเทคโนโลยีตู้ลำโพงอย่างต่อเนื่อง

Patrick อธิบายว่า การเลือกใช้ Adamson ไม่ได้เกิดจากชื่อเสียงของแบรนด์เพียงอย่างเดียว แต่เป็นผลจากการพิจารณาทางวิศวกรรมหลายด้าน ทั้งกำลังเสียงที่สูงในขนาดตู้ที่กะทัดรัด สามารถควบคุมการกระจายเสียงได้อย่างแม่นยำ และสามารถติดตั้งให้กลมกลืนกับสถาปัตยกรรมของโรงละครได้

โดยการออกแบบระบบเสียงของโรงละครแห่งนี้ เราต้องการสร้างภาพเสียงที่เป็นธรรมชาติ เพื่อให้เสียงจากเวทีมีทิศทางที่สอดคล้องกับการแสดง ผู้ชมจึงรับรู้ได้ทั้งตำแหน่งของผู้แสดงและรายละเอียดของเสียงอย่างแม่นยำ ระบบหลักจึงออกแบบเป็น Adamson CS10p จำนวน 3 จุด ในรูปแบบ Left, Center และ Right (LCR) พร้อมแขวน Subwoofer ไว้ด้านบนเวที เพื่อคงพลังเสียงย่านความถี่ต่ำโดยไม่บดบังทัศนียภาพของการแสดงและองค์ประกอบของเวที

นอกจากลำโพงแล้ว ที่โรงละคร VIC Hua Hin ยังเลือกใช้มิกเซอร์ Allen & Heath SQ5 เป็นศูนย์กลางของการควบคุมระบบเสียง

Patrick ซึ่งเคยใช้งาน SQ ตั้งแต่เปิดตัวในปี 2018 มองว่า SQ5 เป็นหนึ่งในดิจิทัลมิกเซอร์ที่คุ้มค่าที่สุดในตลาด ทั้งด้านคุณภาพเสียง ความสามารถในการ Routing และจำนวน Input/Output ที่รองรับการใช้งานระดับมืออาชีพ

สิ่งที่ทำให้ SQ5 เหมาะกับโรงละครแห่งนี้เป็นพิเศษ คือ Workflow ที่ใช้งานง่าย ทีมงานประจำสถานที่สามารถเรียนรู้และใช้งานได้รวดเร็ว แม้จะไม่ได้เป็น Sound Engineer มืออาชีพก็ตาม

ด้วยเหตุนี้ Sonos Libra จึงได้สนับสนุน Allen & Heath SQ5 และ DX168 ให้กับโรงละครได้ใช้งานโดยไม่มีค่าใช้จ่าย ด้วยความตั้งใจที่จะส่งเสริมศิลปะการแสดงแบบไทยให้ผู้คนได้รู้จักและรับชมกันมากขึ้น

นอกเหนือจากคุณภาพเสียงแล้ว พาร์ทเนอร์ทีมติดตั้งของ Sonos Libra อย่าง Alba Integrate ยังให้ความสำคัญกับความปลอดภัยในการติดตั้งทุกขั้นตอน

เนื่องจากตำแหน่งติดตั้งลำโพงอยู่เหนือพื้นที่ที่ผู้ชมและนักแสดงใช้งานจริง การยึดแขวนลำโพงทุกจุดจึงถูกออกแบบตามหลัก Professional Installation โดยใช้โครงสร้างรองรับที่แข็งแรง พร้อม C-Clamp, จุดยึดตามมาตรฐาน และ Safety Sling เป็นระบบสำรอง เพื่อเพิ่มความมั่นคงและลดความเสี่ยงหากเกิดเหตุไม่คาดคิด

สำหรับชุด Subwoofer ยังเลือกใช้ Flybar ของ Adamson ร่วมกับการติดตั้ง Safety Sling เพิ่มเติม เพื่อช่วยกระจายน้ำหนักและเพิ่มความปลอดภัยในการใช้งานระยะยาว

เนื่องจากระบบที่ติดตั้งเป็นลำโพง Active ทีมงานยังออกแบบระบบไฟฟ้าและระบบ Grounding อย่างเหมาะสม เพื่อปกป้องทั้งอุปกรณ์และผู้ใช้งาน พร้อมสร้างความมั่นใจในการใช้งานอย่างต่อเนื่อง

หลังจากติดตั้ง ปรับจูนระบบ และได้ทดลองใช้งานจริง ทุกคนก็สัมผัสได้ถึงความเปลี่ยนแปลงของระบบเสียง ซึ่งนอกจากคุณภาพเสียงที่ดีขึ้นแล้ว ผู้ใช้งานยังสัมผัสได้ถึงการกระจายเสียงที่สม่ำเสมอทั่วทั้งโรงละคร

แต่สิ่งที่ Patrick กล่าวว่าประทับใจมากที่สุด ไม่ใช่ความคมชัดหรือพลังเสียงของระบบ แต่เป็นความคิดเห็นจากนักแสดง พวกเขาบอกว่าไม่จำเป็นต้องใช้ไมโครโฟนให้เสียงดังเหมือนเดิม ผู้ชมก็สามารถได้ยินทุกคำพูดอย่างชัดเจน

ซึ่งนั่นคือเป้าหมายที่สำคัญที่สุดสำหรับโรงละคร เพราะเมื่อผู้ชมสามารถเข้าใจทุกบทสนทนา อารมณ์และเรื่องราวบนเวทีก็สามารถส่งต่อได้อย่างสมบูรณ์

Designing an audio system for a theatre is about far more than simply delivering great sound. Every spoken word, every musical performance, and every moment on stage should reach every member of the audience with clarity and consistency.

That was the vision behind the audio upgrade at VIC Hua Hin. As the theatre prepared for a new chapter, Sonos Libra was entrusted with designing, installing, and tuning a new sound system built around Adamson System Engineering, creating an environment ready for performances, education, and future productions.

VIC Hua Hin is part of the creative learning environment founded by Patravadi Mejudhon, Thailand's National Artist, whose lifelong vision has been to inspire future generations through performing arts, creativity, and education.

Beyond serving as a learning space for Patravadi School, the theatre has also played an important role as a filming location for many of Patravadi's artistic productions throughout the years.

The venue was once a well-established commercial theatre before temporarily closing its doors. Today, it is preparing to welcome audiences once again with new productions, including a traditional Thai musical and an immersive multimedia performance combining LED technology and projection mapping.

Reopening the theatre meant more than renovating the building itself—it required an audio system capable of meeting the expectations of modern live performance.

After years of operation, the existing sound system had naturally reached the point where it could no longer deliver the performance required for contemporary theatre productions. Coverage had become inconsistent, several loudspeakers had deteriorated over time, and the overall listening experience no longer reflected the standard the venue aimed to provide.

To help guide the redevelopment, Patravadi invited Patrick, a Polish sound engineer and audio consultant, to evaluate the theatre and recommend the most suitable solution.

For Patrick, the priority was never simply achieving higher sound pressure levels.

Instead, the focus was speech intelligibility.

In theatre, every line of dialogue carries the story. If audiences cannot clearly understand what is happening on stage, even the most spectacular production loses its emotional impact.

With this philosophy in mind, Sonos Libra designed a system capable of delivering even coverage throughout the venue while ensuring every seat enjoys the same clear and natural listening experience.

One of the key design requirements from Patravadi was preserving the visual character of the theatre. Loudspeakers needed to deliver exceptional performance without becoming visually dominant elements on stage.

For this reason, Adamson Point Source loudspeakers proved to be the ideal solution.

Patrick explains that his recommendation was based not only on the reputation of the brand, but on several engineering considerations.

Adamson continues to develop a comprehensive point source product range.

For this venue, point source technology offered significant advantages, including predictable coverage, exceptional power density, compact enclosure sizes, and the flexibility to integrate seamlessly into the theatre's architecture without compromising aesthetics.

The result is a system that delivers accurate, consistent sound while remaining visually unobtrusive—exactly what the venue required.

To create a natural and immersive listening experience, the system was designed around a three-channel LCR configuration using three Adamson CS10p loudspeakers positioned at the left, center, and right of the stage. The subwoofers were flown above the stage to preserve the visual aesthetics of the performance while delivering powerful low-frequency reinforcement throughout the audience area.

Complementing the loudspeaker system is the Allen & Heath SQ-5, selected as the heart of the theatre's audio control system.

Having worked with the SQ platform since its launch in 2018, Patrick considers it one of the strongest value propositions in professional digital mixing. Its combination of excellent sound quality, extensive routing capabilities, and generous I/O makes it well suited for venues that require professional performance within realistic budget constraints.

Equally important was its intuitive workflow.

Unlike many advanced digital consoles, the SQ-5 is easy to learn, allowing theatre staff to become comfortable operating the system without an extensive learning curve.

To support the long-term operation of the venue and encourage the continued growth of Thai performing arts, Sonos Libra proudly donated an Allen & Heath SQ-5 and DX168 to the theatre, ensuring that the team has access to a reliable professional mixing platform for years to come.

Performance was only one part of the project.

Together with installation partner Alba Integrate, Sonos Libra placed equal emphasis on installation safety.

Since the loudspeakers are suspended above areas regularly occupied by performers and audiences, every mounting point was engineered following professional installation practices. Heavy-duty mounting hardware, structural clamps, certified fixing points, and secondary safety slings were incorporated throughout the installation to maximise security and long-term reliability.

The Adamson subwoofers were flown using dedicated flybars with additional safety slings to improve load distribution and provide an additional layer of protection.

As the system employs active loudspeakers, careful attention was also given to electrical infrastructure and grounding, helping protect both the equipment and everyone working within the venue.

Following installation, system tuning, and commissioning, the improvement was immediately apparent.

Audiences experienced significantly more even coverage throughout the theatre, while performers and staff quickly recognised the increased clarity and consistency of the new system.

Interestingly, Patrick says the most rewarding feedback did not come from measurements or technical specifications—it came directly from the actors.

They found they no longer needed to raise microphone levels excessively for their dialogue to remain intelligible across the audience.

For a theatre, there is perhaps no better measure of success.

When every word can be heard naturally, the audience becomes immersed in the performance, allowing the story and emotion on stage to connect exactly as intended.

The VIC Hua Hin project demonstrates that successful system integration is never simply about selecting premium equipment.

It begins with understanding how a venue is used, respecting its architectural identity, and designing an audio system that serves both artistic expression and practical operation.
